The Lion and the Mouse

Once in the wild, a lion slept deep,
His slumber disturbed by a mouse’s peep.
An unlikely threat to the king of the land,
Yet awake, the lion roared, his patience canned.

The mouse pleaded, “Forgive my mistake,
To you, I’m small, an easy-to-take.
A meal for a lion brings no grand cheer,
No honor in feasting on one so mere.”

Surprisingly moved, the lion withdrew,
The mouse was spared, his life anew.
The mighty king left, the mouse went free,
A lesson on mercy for all to see.

Then, tangled in nets, the lion’s cries rang,
Trapped and entwined, his fate soon to hang.
The mouse heard his roars, remembered the day,
He scurried to help in his tiny way.

Through ropes he gnawed, setting the lion free,
From the hunters’ trap, a kind decree.
For the lion, a lesson in mercy learned,
The mouse’s small help, its due returned.

Remember, dear friend, in each deed you sow,
From grandest lion to smallest fellow,
A helping hand, no matter how slight,
Can change fates in the day or night.

In this fable’s lesson, so gentle and true,
We learn that kindness is something we all should do.
No matter how small, every act can make a change,
And even the mighty lion can find its life rearranged.
